The world is in a war with the new form of weapon, the biological weapon. Rightly said by Bill Gates in his Ted Talks of 2015 titled The next outbreak? We’re not ready https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Af6b_wyiwI , that the later war will not have a blast, it will be in the form of a virus. Biological warfare is the use of biological toxins or infectious agents such as bacteria, viruses, insects and fungi with the intent to kill or incapacitate humans, animals or plants as an act of war.
Today here in this blog I am going to tell you about the Virus, the risk of dealing with it and people infected by it, and mostly about the people who are our front-line warriors in this biological warfare, and our responsibilities towards them and our nation.
Corona virus disease or COVID-19 (orthocoronavirinae) are a group of viruses that cause disease in mammals and birds. In humans it causes respiratory tract infections that can be mild, such as some cases of common cold, fever, cough and shortness of breath. While majority of cases result in mild symptoms, some progress to pneumonia and multi-organ failure. As of now the Fatality rate is 4.5% but can range from 0.2% - 15%.
This Virus has a risk factor like Travel and exposure to the virus. You can diagnose this by RT-PCR testing and CT scan. You can prevent this by following our daily precautions like hand washing, quarantine and physical distancing.
The disease was first identified in 2019 in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei, China, and has since spread globally resulting in 2019-20 Coronavirus Pandemic.
In India our Hon. PM Shri Narendra Modi ji had declared an Janta Curfew on 22nd March 2020 that was made successful by 1.3 billion people of this country just to end the day with a grand foolishness to applaud all the essential service providers. And after observing the response and its result he soon declared a Lockdown for 21 days starting from 25th March 0000 Hrs to 14th April 2020. WHO applauded this Lockdown but also advised India to take aggressive action as Lockdown is not the only option, the govt must prepare itself to test, isolate & treat more people.
Following are the list of ESSENTIAL SERVICE PROVIDERS :-
1) CASH DISPENSING STAFF OF BANKS.
2) AIRPORT AND AIRLINES STAFF.
3) STAFF OF ELECTRICITY/POWER DISTRIBUTION CO. & TELECOM COMPANIES.
4) DELHI METRO STAFF
5) HOSPITAL STAFF INCLUDING PARA NURSING, TECHS, ETC.
6) PEOPLE SERVING CHILDREN AND ELDERLY HOMES, ETC. AND THOSE SUPPLYING FOODS TO THEM.
7) STAFF OF PRIVATE SECURITY AGENCIES IN UNIFORM.
8) STAFF OF CNG/PNG/LPG AND PETROL PUMPS.
Now we will see the order in which these ESSENTIAL SERVICES PROVIDERS work :-
1) AIRPORT & AIRLINE STAFF :- As this Virus will only come through outside carriers, every other passenger is a suspect and also a hidden carrier. No one knows who is carrying the virus and hence all the airline and the airport staff like security staff, the baggage loader, the Aircraft Engineering Staff, the Crews and throught them the Pilots are at highest risk. Anyone can come into contact and hence are the frontline Knights at work against this War. At the airport these passengers are scanned and the one suspected are directly sent to Quarantined Hospitals and the others are stamped on their left hand with the last date of their Home stay Quarantine so that they do not come in contact within that date with the outside world and infect them as it takes around 8-10 days to show the symptoms.
2) HOSPITAL & CLINICAL STAFF :- The suspected patients are sent here to the clinics or the hospitals for the test and they are kept there for the next 24hrs as it takes that minimum time to show result. These staff are well prepared and with enhanced capabilities to tackle the situations and are the present time Godsmen. These are the set of people who are the Real Heroes who can turn the cards and listening to them is the only option you have if you really want to live. They set the rules and limits and also open to so many infected people. Zero tolerance is allowed in taking precautions as he being the Doctor and an healthcare staff can also infect in more numbers.
3)OTHERS :- The other essential service providers like the police officials, the govt officials, the electricity providers, the internet providers, the transport staff, the water suppliers, the grocery providers, the vegetable providers, etc. Play a vital role in this Lockdown.
Its a Grand Appeal and an Humble request to all the people who are told to work from home or stay at home during this complete lockdown to please allow the smooth working of these essential service providers and not to dis-respect them or put false allegations or spread rumors about them that they are the one’s still working and might have got the virus till now. They already are in a fight to provide you with the service and can hold a very good position with all you people around and your support. A small gesture and good words of appreciation will boost their confidence and they shall feel safe and can concentrate on their work without thinking about their families if you do not ill treat them.
There had been many incidents where the crews, engineers, pilots, doctors, nurses, loaders, labourers, etc. are asked to leave their rented room as they are at high risk. But every Airline is taking utmost precautions. The airline staff is provided with masks, gloves, sanitizers, etc. The clinical staff with aprons and other required essentials, they are tested on regular purpose for any symptoms and sent to quarantine if found any even with high temperature as strong immunity is the key to fight this virus.
Kudos to these people and Salute to be brave enough and participate all along for keeping our spirit alive to fight the war against virus.
The doctors have seen the worst conditions and are pleading to not take this virus lightly and to take a good precaution by staying at your place, washing your hands, keeping safe distance when you go to take essential goods, etc.
There are many guidelines given by the Ministry of Health to follow during this lockdown :-
1) Watch out for any symptoms like dry cough, fever or difficulty in breathing and contact associated helpline numbers.
2) Drugs have been made avaiable to restricted use against COVID-19 and hence don’t rush to buy those as to be used by only designated hospitals.
3) Strictly avoid visitors at home during quarantine.
4) Maintain Social Distancing
5) Face your fears and anxiety with facts, not discrimination. Let’s not Reject, harass, abuse, hurt or harm anyone. Not all who cough or sneeze have COVID-19.
6) After having oily or sweet in a meal, make sure to gargle.
Below are some Myth Busters provided by our Govt through MyGovIndia :-
1) No antibiotics work against viruses, only against bacteria. If you get hospitalized for 2019-nCoV, you may receive antibiotics since bacterial co-infection is possible.
2) Incubation period is not upto 5 days, most incubation period for COVID-19 range from 1-14 days.
3) One bowl of garlic is no cure to coronavirus as there is NO scientific evidence to this study.
4) Holding your breath for than 10 seconds without discomfort does not prove you are infected or not.
5) There is no evidence that a dog, cat or any pet can transmit COVID-19.
6) Studies suggest that the virus may persist on surfaces for a few hours or upto several days. This may vary under different conditions (eg. Type of surface, temperature or humidity of the environment)
7) Regular intake of Vit - C boosts immunity. However excessive intake is not recommended.
8) Not only older people but of all ages can be infected by the nCoV-2019. Older people, and people with pre-existing medical conditions appear to be more vulnerable due weak immune.
9) There is no such treatment where the bitter gourd(Karela) juice can treat Coronavirus.
